I won an item from ebay (Malaysia) for an unbelievable price. That nite the seller called at 10pm telling me he want to make cash on delivery (COD), simply means I take the item, he takes the cash on the spot, in 2 hours time. I agreed with that not knowing what lie ahead. ATM as we know it stops its services at 12 midnite. So I got plenty of time to withdraw the money.
Half an hour later I proceeded to my campus’s CIMB ATM (I have both CIMB and Maybank acc) just to realize that the machine was down. Its almost 11 when I walked to sri petaling LRT station to get to sungei besi (it takes 5 minutes to get there from sri petaling station). There’s a BSN’ ATM in sungei besi with which I could use the MEPS service.
When I got to Sg Besi station, shockingly, the area was all blacked out. I rushed to BSN in the hope that it will get it own supply of electricity as it’s illogical for the bank not to have any back up power considering all the security devices that run on currents.
When I got to the ATM, I got lucky as the electricity returned. I tried to withdraw RM1100 as I already had a few thousands in my pocket. Then, it came. The screen displayed daily limit reached. It seems I can’t do nothing but to wait for tomorrow. My daily limit was set at RM1000 out of which RM50 I already withdrew in the morning. To make sure same thing wouldn’t happen tomorrow as I already wasted my time and sweat running for nothing, I withdrew RM 950 but still, the machine popped up the exact same message. My mind told me something’s not right. I guessed maybe I couldn’t just hit the RM1000 mark, so I tried to withdraw RM800 instead. Now, it sent shivers all over my spine as the message still appeared.
Without thinking for any second, I ran to the LRT again to get to bukit jalil station. With the heart rate already at the top most height, I got off the train and ran to nearby Carrefour to get to ATM machine to double check my withdrawal. My journey was getting longer and longer and more tiresome. What I got for not thinking for any second was the realization that Carrefour closed at 11. Yeah, It’s already closed when I got there. I did my part time in Carrefour’s McD on last break, therefore, you could have guessed that I knew the other entrance other than the main one. My watch just hit 11.30, I bet the door were still open for workers to come out after doing closing.
I got to the ATM machine just at the nick of time before the guard close the door. Now with AMBANK but same thing occurred. Everything went upside down in my head now. I took a cab to the town of sri petaling which is actually far way from sri petaling lrt station. After telling the driver to wait, I entered Sri Petaling Maybank branch. Luckily it’s not 12 yet, I tried again to withdraw but failed but this time I checked my balance. To my horror, the balance lack RM800.
The thought of those ATM malicious devices crept in. With the same cab, I went to the source of my trouble, the BSN ATM. Bad luck haven’t gave up in following me. The ATM was already stopped its services even before 12 midnite. Sense of hopelessness and bewilderment surrounded me.
The next morning, I went to BSN. Surprisingly, the employees told me I was not the only unlucky guy whose money got trapped inside the machine. I went to Maybank to fill the report form and an employee told to avoid withdrawing money from BSN ATM. I have to wait for a day before I got back my cash. Lucky enough I didn’t lose them.
You know the message I try to deliver here.. don’t procrastinate. Nah.. if you have other choice to withdraw your cash, don't choose BSN unless of course you're withdrawing from the BSN account itself.
